Title: Gaggia Classic Solenoid Spring Question
Post by: motopoeta on December 10, 2017, 04:59:55 PM
Hey guys:

First time posting. I've got an older model Gaggia Classic, and it started making a lot of noise and not pumping any water. I figured it was the solenoid, so I've pulled it out and have it soaking in some dish soap (no descaler currently). I noticed that one side of the internal solenoid unit (the piston-like thing with the green plastic buttons on both ends) does not press in (side with the largest plastic area does not press in) but that the other side compresses freely. I read somewhere that both ends were supposed to be able to be pushed in (is this true?). So, my question is: is it supposed to be that way or is my solenoid busted?

Cheers,
