Classic pump leaking
« on: November 11, 2013, 06:03:55 PM »
Hi all,

I recently (finally!!!) installed a PID for my Classic and when I had it opened I noticed there was a slight water leak causing a small amount of corrosion in my machine. The leak is between the metal elbow fitting  (part 42 on the Rev No.3 21-12-2006 Classic parts diagram) and the plastic top of the pump (part 43). The parts diagram also indicates there's an O-ring in there (part 41).

Any idea how to go about fixing this? Assuming I need some sort of food-safe sealant/glue? And maybe replace that O-ring too? Thanks in advance for any help!

Teflon tape to the rescue  :)

Try unscrewing that safety valve (part 42), giving it a healthy wrap with teflon tape and then tightening it back up.

Then watch it carefully for a bit.

Thanks Susan! So far, so good and it's seemingly working like a charm.
