You might have to improvise on this one if you don't want to pay for the steam knob.

What i was thinking,

The trouble is, was bought used and came without the steam clip, so have no template to follow i.e old clip, so i think it was be a lot of guess work involved.

Going from this.....

http://www.theespressoshop.co.uk/en/GB/Gaggia-Classic-Steam-Knob---CF0189A/m-3097.aspx?PartnerID=22&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=UnitedKingdom&gclid=CPfojtLcjdUCFQ8SGwod98IBqg

(which seems to be £10.68 with p&p))... the clip it self is only a means of pressing against the D shape section of the valve shaft, so almost anything can be used at a pinch, a thin sliver of plastic or even cardboard would work as an alternative to a piece of spring steel

Thanks for the advice, any idea where about it should go, by the look's of the part's diagram it seem to go in the steam knob Protector, but i'm not 100% sure, as i said it was missing when i bought it.

don't really wan't to spend much on it, as i have just bought a classic to replace it.

With That all being said and done, any idea where the clip will go

as i mentioned, the clip was missing when i bought it, so only have the parts diagram as guide

any help you could give me in this matter, more than helpful

The pic of the steam knob clearly shows where the clip is inserted. Look closely. Maybe it is not missing. The job of the clip is to press the round side of the steam valve stem to keep the steam knob tightly in place.

Ah i see it now, doh ......

The reason i believe it to be missing is, there is play in the steam knob, i.e loose when on

Have also sent a message to a ebay seller to see if they have one, just the clip and not both

had a reply and the part number i gave was wrong,
so i double checked and sent the corrcet part number and also gave them a link for the part's diagram awaiting a reply back

If you can't get the correct little metal strip that fits into the slot next to the D inside the knob, then a small piece of rubber works just fine.

I know as I have just tried it  ;D

Very small pieces of rubber (gt2 6mm wide 3D printer belt) are available for the price of a SAE

cheers for the advice mate

will try that in a while, just bought a classic as project re-build, as pump issue, got it really cheap

plus the outlet fitting valve sheared when i was rebuilding it nad cost over £10 to replace

not sure if it was weak or i did it

so put in a cupboard for a lata date
